And a police source in Tikrit, also north of Baghdad, said that local police chief Colonel Hussein Ali al-Juburi had been shot dead by unknown attackers on Sunday evening.

A colonel at Tikrit Police said that the police commander of the city of Al-Mashahidah, south of Salah-al-Din Governorate, north of Baghdad, was killed by unidentified gunmen, late last night.
