From the news reports:
Khedeir Mekhalef Ali, 48, the al-Khaldiya police chief, was shot at least 25 times, said his driver, who also was wounded in the attack along with Ali's bodyguard. Bodyguard Fouad Issa, 40, wounded in the shoulder and back and also being treated at the hospital, said police have frequently come under attack because they are seen as being associated with the U.S. occupation force. Ali, a former Iraqi army officer, had been police chief for two months.
